Iuze Mukube This week, the Namibian courts delivered judgements in long-running cases, while some accused pleaded not guilty in their trials. Others made brief court appearances before their cases were either struck from the roll or withdrawn. Partners in crime Amanda Elizabeth Jantjies and Barnard Christopher Jantjies, a married couple, were convicted of fraud, theft and money laundering in connection with the theft of N$9.9 million from bus company Ekonolux.

The conviction by Judge Eileen Rakow followed their tendering of a guilty plea on Monday, in the Windhoek High Court. They pleaded guilty to 873 counts of fraud, 876 counts of theft and 871 counts of money laundering. The matter was in court yesterday for pre-sentencing submissions.
