Tigers Sports Club has appointed experienced coach Fortune Eichab as the club’s new head coach on a two-year contract, as the Shandumbala-based outfit looks to build a competitive side ahead of the new season.
Eichab’s appointment brings to Tigers a coach who has steadily established himself among Namibia’s promising football tacticians, having guided teams through both the lower divisions and the country’s top-flight league.
The former Khomas NamPol mentor first made his mark at Tura Magic, where he guided the side to a third-place finish in the Namibia Premier League during his debut season in 2018/19.

His performance earned him a nomination among the league’s Coach of the Year contenders.
His coaching journey began at the grassroots level when he founded Scorpion United, a club affiliated with the Khomas Youth League, after his own playing ambitions were curtailed by work commitments.
Eichab, who had also competed in athletics as a youngster, developed a passion for coaching and focused on nurturing young footballers.
He subsequently built a reputation for developing disciplined and competitive teams, with an attacking philosophy forming an important part of his coaching identity.
Eichab has previously said he enjoys playing attacking football while adapting his approach according to the opposition and circumstances of a match.
His most notable recent achievement came with Khomas NamPol, whom he guided to promotion to the topflight and then to an impressive third-place finish in their debut Namibia Premiership campaign.
NamPol collected 59 points, finishing behind champions African Stars and runners-up FC Ongos.
Eichab also demonstrated his ability to compete against established Premiership clubs, with Nampol spending significant periods near the top of the standings during their first season in the elite division.
In December 2024, he guided the police side to the summit after a strong run of results.
The coach now faces a new challenge at Tigers, who are reportedly understood to have acquired Namibia Premiership status from a club with a recent history of NFA Cup success and participation in CAF inter-club competitions.
Eichab said he was delighted to take charge of the historic club and is eager to begin work with the squad.
“I am very proud and excited to join Tigers. This is a great club with a rich history and passionate fans. My immediate plan is to get to know the squad, work hard on the training pitch and build a team that can compete,” he said.
“We want to play brave, attractive football that makes our supporters proud every time we step onto the field.”
For Eichab, the move represents another significant chapter in a coaching career that has been built largely on progression, development and the ability to make teams competitive despite operating with limited resources.
He will now be tasked with translating that experience into success at Tigers, with expectations likely to be high as the club prepares for a new era.
