THE credit environment remained broadly stable in May 2026, although growth slowed slightly.

Private sector credit extension (PSCE) increased marginally by 0.1% month-on-month (m/m) in May, while annual growth eased to 4.3% year-on-year (y/y) from 4.8% y/y in April.
This slowdown was driven primarily by weaker corporate borrowing activity, with corporate credit growth easing to 4.4% y/y in May from 5.5% y/y in the previous month. In contrast, household credit growth remained stable at 4.2% y/y during the month.
