Rehoboth — The future of the Rehoboth Museum hangs in the balance as uncertainty persists over who is formally responsible for the institution. While several organisations are linked to the museum, none have accepted overall responsibility for its governance, preservation, and long-term sustainability.
The museum, one of Rehoboth’s most important cultural institutions, is housed in what is believed to be the former Rehoboth Postmaster’s House, a building dating back to 1903, making it approximately 123 years old.
Despite its age and historical significance, the building has not been declared a heritage site, according to the National Heritage Council of Namibia (NHC).
