Meatco’s turnaround strategy showing results despite cattle supply crisis

MEATCO’s turnaround strategy is beginning to deliver results despite a historic decline in Namibia’s cattle supply, with Interim Chief Executive Officer Ambassador Albertus Aochamub saying the corporation remained profitable, strengthened its balance sheet and improved financial resilience during one of its toughest operating periods.

Meatco’s audited Annual Financial Statements for the financial year ended 31 January 2026 show that the corporation faced a significant reduction in cattle throughput following years of drought and the continued rebuilding of Namibia’s national cattle herd.

Aochamub said the results reflected two key realities: the impact of reduced cattle availability on revenue, and Meatco’s ability to remain financially stable despite processing significantly fewer animals.
