The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism aims to increase tourism’s contribution to Namibia’s Gross Domestic Product from N$14.3 billion to N$18.5 billion by 2030.
The target seeks to strengthen tourism as a driver of economic growth, employment and community development.

The target is contained in the Ministry’s Strategic Plan for 2025/26 to 2029/30, which is aligned with the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6).
The strategic overview was presented by the ministry’s executive director Sikongo Haihambo.
Haihambo identified tourism and gaming as key areas under the ministry’s strategic programme, with increased tourist arrivals, higher tourism revenues, job creation and improved competitiveness among the desired outcomes.
He revealed that tourism contributed N$14.3 billion to GDP in 2022.
