President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has given government ministries until the end of August to implement reforms aimed at improving Namibia’s business environment.
She said the country can no longer afford endless discussions while investors and industries wait for action.
This is after the mining sector contributed a combined N$24 billion to local procurement during the year under review.
Nandi-Ndaitwah announced the deadline during the official opening of the 2026 Chamber of Mines Mining Expo and Conference in Windhoek yesterday.
“I have given all the ministries until the end of August to report back on the implementation, and I am happy that yesterday I received one of the reports,” Nandi-Ndaitwah said.
The recommendations of the three presidential task forces established after last year’s Namibia Public-Private Forum have already been submitted, which ministries have begun implementing.
