Kunene, Kavango and Orange rivers record rising water levels over past week

Staff Reporter THE Kunene River is once again experiencing increased flow, with discharge rising by more than 300 cubic metres per second (m³/s) over the past week. According to the Hydrological Services of Namibia, the Kunene River increased from a flow rate of 584.70 m³/s last Tuesday, 5 May 2026, to 894.10 m³/s this Tuesday, 12 May 2026. This is also higher than the flow recorded on the same date last year (12 May 2025), when the river stood at 304.90 m³/s.
