The Ohlthaver & List (OL) Group has doubled down on its confidence in Namibia’s tourism industry with a N$260 million transformation of Mokuti Etosha.

This massive capital investment expected to generate long-term economic benefits through job creation, increased visitor spending and strengthened competitiveness in one of the country’s most crucial economic sectors.

The completion of the extensive redevelopment was officially marked on Friday when Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare, representing President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, unveiled a commemorative plaque at the luxury lodge’s new SkyBoma overlooking the Etosha landscape.

For OL Group, the N$260 million wager is more than a luxury lodge upgrade as it is a strategic investment in the long-term tourism economy the country’s natural attractions as its most valuable economic assets.

The investment, undertaken over four years since 2022, represents one of the largest recent private-sector commitments to the domestic hospitality industry and comes despite continued uncertainty surrounding international tourism following the Covid-19 pandemic and softer visitor arrivals recorded during 2025.

At the inauguration, OL Group Executive Chairman Sven Thieme described the project as a long-term vote of confidence in Namibia’s tourism potential.
