OKAHANDJA – Highly educated and sophisticated traditional or wannabe leaders are largely to blame for leadership disputes in Namibia, urban and rural development minister James Sankwasa, has said.

This, he seemingly suggested, is strange, as past traditional leaders with little to no academic background led their communities with much greater focus, vision and delivered what was needed. Sankwasa said this recently at the 130th commemoration of the late Ombara Kahimemua Hiakungairi Nguvauva, held at Okahandja.
“Since my appointment as the minister of urban and rural development, I have been receiving applications for chieftainships from various members from different communities. Four of these applications are from Ovambanderu,” he said.
