Pedophile pensioner jailed

A Windhoek High Court Judge has sentenced a 74-year-old man to a prison term of 15-years in relation to the rape of an 11-year-old minor child.

The accused, who shall not be named to protect the identity of the victim, faced charges including rape, trafficking in persons, soliciting or enticing a child to the commission of a sexual act and exposing a child to pornography in contravention of the Child Care and Protection Act.

The elderly man was sentenced on all the charges yesterday in the Windhoek Prison Court by Judge Dinah Usiku.

From the court document, there was no further detail on the exact circumstances surrounding the commission of the offence.

The accused had a close domestic relationship with the minor complainant and that the act was committed in his flat in a certain town.
