Miller, Schoor win 2026 Tour de Windhoek

Namibia’s Alex Miller and South Africa’s Kelsey Jade van Schoor were crowned overall champions of the 2026 Pupkewitz Megabuild Tour de Windhoek on Sunday.

The five-stage road race took place from 13 to 16 August and brought together Namibia’s leading cyclists and some of the best riders from neighbouring countries.

Miller, riding for King Price Racing, laid the foundations for his victory with a commanding performance in the opening stage, where he established a lead of more than one minute and 20 seconds.

He extended his advantage during an impressive ride on the Dordabis route in stage two on Friday, before successfully defending his lead over the remaining stages to secure the overall title.

Theuns van der Westhuizen of Hollard Elite finished second overall, while Miller’s King Price Racing teammate, Ernest Arnold Roets, completed the podium with an outstanding third-place finish.

Miller also collected the polka-dot jersey as the race’s Top Climber and the green jersey for Best Sprinter.

In the elite women’s category, Team Pirtek Hollard dominated the tour, with Van Schoor producing sensational performances in stages two and three on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Her strong rides gave her a lead of more than 30 seconds over her teammates and rivals, allowing her to claim the yellow jersey and ultimately the overall title.

Her teammate Anri Greef finished second after closely contesting stages two and three with Van Schoor, including photo finishes in both stages.

Lize-Ann Louw of the Tshenolo Women Pro Cycling Team, who won the individual time trial, completed the podium in third place.

Meanwhile, junior rider Van der Westhuizen also claimed the Under-23 men’s title, adding to his third-place finish in the elite men’s category.

Roets finished second in the U/23 standings, while Christiaan van der Westhuizen, also of Hollard Elite, took third place.

Speaking to Nampa after the race, Miller said he was delighted to be crowned Tour de Windhoek champion.

“It feels super good to be here and to take the yellow, as well as the polka-dot and green jerseys. The jerseys belong to my team as much as they do to me. It’s always nice to be able to ride as part of a team because you have teammates controlling the pace and covering attacks,” he said.

Van Schoor, who claimed her second Tour de Windhoek title after winning the event two years ago, also expressed delight at securing the yellow jersey.

“Today’s stage was hard to win, but our team performed very well. Winning this title means a lot, and I am always happy to come and compete in the Tour de Windhoek. We had a good team during the Tour de Windhoek, and we worked well together,” she said. -Nampa
