Katima businesses told to beef up security … as police push for safer CBD

KATIMA MULILO – An appeal has been made to businesses in Katima Mulilo’s central business district (CBD) to take greater responsibility for securing their premises, warning that police cannot combat crime alone.

Speaking during a crime prevention engagement with businesses in Katima Mulilo yesterday, Zambezi police Commander Commissioner Anna Sakuwa-Neo expressed disappointment at the low turnout, saying the meeting had been organised specifically to discuss crime trends affecting businesses and identify practical solutions.

“We wanted the businesspeople to be here so that we could engage and agree on certain measures, but disappointingly only a few attended,” she said.

Sakuwa-Neo stressed that crime prevention is a shared responsibility and that business owners must invest in security measures to reduce the growing number of break-ins.
