Speaking at the National Youth Council General Assembly in Swakopmund, Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, Dr Sanet Steenkamp, said the assembly marked an important milestone in the council’s recovery after months of governance and operational challenges.

Steenkamp said the NYC had been one of the institutions that concerned her most when she assumed office in March 2025, citing governance difficulties, instability and compliance shortcomings that had raised concerns about its ability to effectively serve Namibia’s youth.
