Staff Reporter THE Windhoek City Council has adopted a motion calling for urgent national intervention to address the growing number of young children begging at traffic intersections across the capital. The motion, tabled by Councillor Ignatius Semba at the Ordinary Council meeting on Thursday, raised concerns over an estimated 150 children, believed to be of Angolan origin, who frequent intersections selling wooden sticks and knobkerries and soliciting money from motorists. Councillor Semba told the Council that children as young as five to seven years old are being exposed to serious safety risks while also posing dangers to road users.
