NAC addresses Jet A-1 fuel supply challenges

The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) says it is closely monitoring Jet A-1 fuel supply challenges affecting the aviation sector at Hosea Kutako International Airport, with coordination efforts underway to minimise disruptions to airport operations and air connectivity.

The company made the remarks in a media release issued on Wednesday, saying that it is engaging fuel suppliers, government authorities, aviation stakeholders and industry partners to manage the situation and maintain the safe and efficient operation of airport services.

The company said airport operations remain ongoing while developments are being monitored and contingency measures implemented where necessary.

The fuel supply challenges come as airlines and aviation stakeholders remain reliant on adequate Jet A-1 supplies to maintain flight operations.

NAC urged passengers to remain in contact with their respective airlines regarding any potential schedule adjustments as efforts continue to address the situation.

NAC said it appreciates the cooperation and understanding of all stakeholders, adding that the coordinated response is aimed at safeguarding the resilience and continuity of Namibia’s aviation sector while limiting the impact of the fuel supply challenges on travellers and air services.
