South Africa largest contributor to intra-African trade

Intra-African trade rose to US$213.8 billion in 2025, with South Africa retaining its position as the largest contributor, according to the African Export-Import Bank’s 2026 African Trade Report.

The report names South Africa as the largest contributor to intra-African trade, accounting for a 19.2% share. The country recorded a trade surplus in 2025, with imports from other African countries standing at US$10.04 billion and exports to the continent standing at US$31.1 billion.
