Vice President looks into Hai//om living conditions … as residents call for electricity, housing and sanitation

Hope, uncertainty and long-standing concerns marked Vice President Lucia Witbooi’s visit to the Hai//om San community at Ombika in Etosha National Park on Wednesday, as residents welcomed government engagement while calling for lasting solutions to the challenges they continue to face.

Witbooi visited the community as part of a familiarisation mission aimed at gaining first-hand insight into the living conditions, socio-economic circumstances and development needs of the Hai//om people.

The visit also included the Hai//om San resettlement farms of Seringkop, Bellalaika and Nuchas in the Kunene region.
