Namibia back in Davis Cup World Group II

Namibia have secured promotion to the Davis Cup World Group II after an impressive campaign in Africa Group III, winning four of their five matches in Bujumbura, Burundi, from 11 to 15 August.

The Namibian team of captain Gert Dippenaar, brothers Connor and Codie van Schalkwyk, Steyn Dippenaar and Daniel Jauss finished among the three teams promoted from the tournament. Senegal and hosts Burundi also earned promotion to World Group II.

Namibia opened their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Ivory Coast before producing another 2-1 win against Senegal. They continued their strong run with a 2-1 victory over Togo and completed the tournament with a convincing 3-0 win over Benin.
