A significant outcome of any development initiative should be the recognition that young people are not merely beneficiaries of development but essential partners in shaping Africa’s future, said youth activist Duminga Ndala.
She stated that there is a need for governments, development partners and private-sector institutions to move beyond symbolic youth inclusion and to create meaningful opportunities for young people to influence decision-making processes.
“Particular attention was given to strengthening youth-led organisations, increasing access to financing for youth entrepreneurs, and enhancing youth representation in policy and governance structures,” said the Chairperson of the Landless People’s Movement Youth Command Element.
Ndala recently participated in the ninth YouLead Summit in Arusha, Tanzania, an opportunity for young leaders from across Africa to engage on critical issues affecting the continent, such as youth participation in governance, entrepreneurship, innovation, climate action, education, digital transformation and sustainable development.
