Mines faces shortage of qualified technical staff

The Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy is facing a shortage of technically qualified and skilled personnel.

The shortage could affect the ministry’s ability to effectively implement its programmes in mining, energy and industrial development.

The shortage was identified among the ministry’s key challenges during a presentation to the National Assembly delivered in Windhoek outlining the ministry’s mandate, strategic priorities, programmes and challenges.

According to the presentation, the ministry is currently evolving and recovering from prolonged periods of fiscal consolidation and a reduction in the wage bill.
