A student nurse claims that she has been left struggling financially after allegedly not receiving compensation from the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund.
This, she said, follows a road accident she suffered almost four years back.
In an interview, Hileni Indongo told New Era that since 13 October 2022, when the accident occurred, she had to pay her own medical bills at Roman Catholic and Lady Pohamba Private hospitals, which left her in debt. “The police told me that they had informed MVA that I had been transferred to Windhoek and MVA officials would come to register my case but they never did. I was admitted in Lady Pohamba Private Hospital for two months where I paid my own medical bills and to date, I have never received compensation,” Indongo said.
Before moving to the private hospital, she was transferred from Okahandja State Hospital to Katutura Intermediate Hospital, where she further alleges she faced negligence from the doctors and nurses on duty that night.
