Namibia’s decorated Paralympic sprinter Ananias Shikongo believes age should never define an athlete’s limits, insisting that discipline, hard work and the right mindset matter far more than the number of candles on a birthday cake.

At 40 years old, the veteran star is putting the finishing touches on his preparations for next month’s 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, where he will proudly carry Namibia’s hopes as the country’s sole para-athlete.
The Games, scheduled to take place from 23 July to 2 August, will see Shikongo compete in the T11 100 metres alongside his trusted guide, Even Tjiviju.
