Driving schools, instructors to face new regulations

The ministry of works and transport is set to consult stakeholders nationwide on proposed regulations for driving schools and instructors, with the aim of improving the quality of driver training and road safety.

The proposed framework will cover instructor certification and competence, standardised training, consumer protection, as well as requirements for training vehicles and facilities, the ministry stated in a statement on Wednesday.

The consultations are scheduled to run from August 2026 to March 2027, starting in Swakopmund on 24 August, followed by Otjiwarongo on 27 August, Oshakati on 28 August and Keetmanshoop on 15 September.

According to the ministry further dates will be announced.
