Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on drinking and driving. NBL has launched a N$200 000 enforcement and assessment programme to help reduce alcohol-related crashes and generate the country’s first consistent data on impaired driving.

The initiative was launched in Windhoek yesterday in partnership with the Namibian Road Safety Forum (NRSF) and the Namibian Police Force’s Traffic Law Enforcement Directorate.
It will run from next month to January 2027. The programme will see nine roadblocks conducted across the country, where traffic officers will inspect motorists for compliance with road traffic laws, including valid driver’s licences, seatbelt use, tyre condition and vehicle roadworthiness.
The programme also aims to conduct more than 300 breathalyser tests at every checkpoint to establish the extent of alcohol-impaired driving on Namibia’s roads.
