Namibia’s Head of Mission at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, Joseph Amakali, has clarified the circumstances surrounding the disqualification of para-athlete Ananias Shikongo from the men’s T12 100m heats in Glasgow, Scotland.

Shikongo was disqualified after competing in Heat 2 on Wednesday, ending his hopes of progressing in one of Namibia’s key para-athletics events at the Games. Speaking after the race, Amakali explained the reason behind the decision by officials, saying the disqualification was made in accordance with the competition’s technical regulations.
