The Teachers Union of Namibia (TUN) has raised concern that teachers’ salaries are no longer keeping pace with the rising cost of living.
The union warned that financial pressures are affecting educators’ well-being, morale and ultimately the quality of education delivered in classrooms.

TUN vice president Tjandero Tjituka made the remarks during a presentation to the National Council Standing Committee on Education, Science, Information and Communication Technology and Youth Development in Otjiwarongo on Wednesday.
The union was invited, alongside other education stakeholders and trade unions, to share views on the role of TUN in promoting teacher welfare and quality education delivery, as well as on the challenges affecting teachers and their impact on learner performance.
Tjituka said inadequate salaries remain one of the biggest challenges facing teachers.
