REPORTED payment fraud losses in Namibia exceeded N$72 million in 2025, with the Payments Association of Namibia (PAN) warning that increasingly sophisticated phishing attacks and digital scams are posing growing risks to consumers, businesses and the broader financial system.
According to PAN’s 2025 annual report, fraud incidents increased significantly during the year, with losses rising from N$25.9 million in the first half of 2025 to N$46.6 million in the second half. The increase was largely driven by phishing attacks within the electronic funds transfer (EFT) environment, which became more advanced and resulted in substantial financial losses.
