For many years, residents of Khorixas had to travel long distances to access basic banking services. These trips cost families both time and money, while money that could have supported local businesses was often spent in neighbouring towns.
FNB Namibia saw the need to bring banking services closer to the community. The goal was not only to introduce new technology but to make banking easier, more convenient and accessible for people where they live.

The journey started in 2017 when two local merchants began offering FNB Cashback and eWallet services. However, introducing the services was only the first step. The bigger challenge was changing how people viewed and used banking.
“We quickly realised that the challenge wasn’t introducing new banking channels. It was building trust,” said Modestus Ipangelwa, FNB Namibia Area eBanker.
