Staff Reporter THE Namibian Police in the Omusati Region have arrested a 26-year-old Angolan woman for allegedly kidnapping a 16-month-old boy at Okahao on Tuesday. The child was found and the suspect arrested on Wednesday following an intensive search. It is alleged that the child’s 19-year-old mother and the suspect — both Angolan nationals — met at Okahao around 17:30 and exchanged cellphone numbers. While they were still walking together, the mother realised that one of the child’s shoes was missing. She asked her compatriot to hold the infant while she walked back to search for the shoe. She found it, but upon her return, the suspect and the child were gone. Police said the mother called the suspect’s number. She answered but later switched the phone off. Officers joined the search and found the suspect and the child at Omapopo in the Uuvudhiya Constituency of the Oshana Region on Wednesday evening.
