Makatan guilty of girlfriend’s murder

Windhoek High Court Judge Dinah Usiku has found a man guilty of killing his girlfriend and subsequently dragging the body into a fire in November 2021 in the Omaheke region.

Jakob Makatan faced the charges of murder and defeating or obstructing the course of justice in relation to the death of his girlfriend, only identified as Brander (35).

During trial proceedings, he pleaded not guilty and denied having the intention to kill Brander.

There is no full mention of the name of the deceased. Makatan explained further that while walking to a funeral with Brander to Oshongwe village and consuming alcohol, they got into an argument.
