GROOTFONTEIN – The Grootfontein Municipality is ramping up efforts to position the often-overlooked northern-central town as a major agro-economic and logistics hub. In so doing, the town is leveraging its strategic location within a thriving farming community as well as along regional trade corridors. Acting Grootfontein CEO Indileni Lungameni hopes to capitalise on this strategic location to attract investors and developers and boost industrial activity.
Lungameni emphasised that the small but growing town on the edge of the Maize Triangle needs to leverage its geographic advantage as a gateway to link Namibia’s northern regions, the framing community and cross-border trade routes connected to the Walvis Bay-Ndola-Lubumbashi Corridor. During an exclusive interview, Lungameni noted that the municipality is pursuing an aggressive business development strategy centred on land availability, infrastructure expansion and public-private partnerships. This three-pronged strategy is aimed at transforming Grootfontein into a competitive investment destination.
