THE United Nations High-Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS has concluded with Member States adopting a new Political Declaration aimed at strengthening global efforts to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.

The declaration, adopted with strong support, reaffirms international commitment to the global HIV response and introduces new targets focused on expanding access to HIV testing, treatment and prevention, addressing funding gaps, protecting human rights and promoting sustainable access to medicines and technologies.
The outcome follows weeks of negotiations among Member States, as well as engagements with communities, civil society organisations and international partners, amid concerns over declining global HIV financing and challenges to multilateral cooperation.
