The National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor) has thrown its weight behind the government’s decision to source the country’s fuel requirements through global energy trader Vitol for the next three months.

In a statement issued on Friday, Namcor stated the arrangement is the most commercially viable solution for the state-owned company to continue its financial recovery.
This comes a few days after former Namcor interim boss Maureen Hinda-Mbuende questioned the deal, branding monopoly masquerading as fuel security.
