New airline to be guided by commercial sustainability

The Ministry of Works and Transport has dismissed speculation that people have already been selected to lead Namibia Air, saying the new national airline is still in its planning phase and no executive appointments have been made.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the ministry said the Technical Committee on the Establishment of the National Airline was created in 2025 to prepare the groundwork for the project. It stressed that no leadership positions have been created or filled.

The ministry described reports linking individuals to senior positions at the airline as false.
