Professor Marius Frederick Johannes said Namibia must invest more in nuclear education and skills if it is to move beyond being a uranium supplier and become a stronger player in the global nuclear industry.
Johannes made the remarks after representing Namibia at the Russia-Africa: Nuclear Education as a Potential for Successful Regional Development Forum in Moscow.

Hosted by the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University) with support from Russia’s State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom), the forum brought together policymakers, scientists, academics and industry leaders to discuss how nuclear education can drive economic development.
Johannes, who was invited to address the plenary session and another session on graduates’ contributions to regional development, said that countries that invest in people will be better placed to benefit from the growing global demand for nuclear technology.
