Frenchman Romain Gregoire won the second stage of the Tour of Switzerland on Thursday as world champion Tadej Pogacar extended his overall lead.

It was a bittersweet result for Pogacar, whose girlfriend Urska Zigart was taken to hospital with a broken jaw after a bad crash in the women’s race earlier in the day.
Gregoire outsprinted Spaniard Marcel Camprubi and Bart Lemmen of the Netherlands as a six-man group held off a charging Pogacar to come to the line together.
