Gregoire wins Swiss tour 2nd stage as Pogacar extends lead

Frenchman Romain Gregoire won the second stage of the Tour of Switzerland on Thursday as world champion Tadej Pogacar extended his overall lead.

It was a bittersweet result for Pogacar, whose girlfriend Urska Zigart was taken to hospital with a broken jaw after a bad crash in the women’s race earlier in the day.

Gregoire outsprinted Spaniard Marcel Camprubi and Bart Lemmen of the Netherlands as a six-man group held off a charging Pogacar to come to the line together.
