VICE President Lucia Witbooi has urged Namibian youth to take advantage of government programmes aimed at skills development, entrepreneurship and job creation, while calling on delegates at the National Youth Council (NYC) General Assembly to uphold unity and democracy during leadership elections.

Speaking at the official opening of the third General Assembly of the National Youth Council of Namibia in Swakopmund on Friday, Witbooi said young people are key drivers of innovation, economic growth and social transformation.
She conveyed greetings from President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who she said wished the assembly success and congratulated the new leadership that will be elected during the four-day gathering.
The Vice President highlighted the importance of the National Youth Council, established under the National Youth Council Act, as a platform responsible for coordinating youth organisations, promoting youth development and representing the interests of Namibians aged between 16 and 35.
