Ovambanderu wants Botswana returnees fully integrated

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has been urged to speed up the full integration of Ovambanderu families repatriated from Botswana.

This is after their traditional authority revealed that children at the temporary settlement are still learning under tents and residents have no nearby health facilities.

The appeal was made by Ovambanderu chief Eben Tjozohongo Nguvauva II during a courtesy visit to State House on Thursday.

After the meeting, Nguvauva said one of the main reasons for visiting the president was to thank her administration for acting quickly to assist members of the Ovambanderu community who returned to Namibia from Botswana after decades away from their homeland. “I wanted to thank the government because it was so quick and swift in helping those returnees. They received national documents and, as we speak, the majority of them have benefited from social grants,” he said.
