The system will allow community health workers to collect and share patient information faster, especially in rural and hard-to-reach areas. DCS is expected to replace the current paper-based registers used by community health workers with a digital application accessible through mobile devices such as cell phones or tablets.

This means that when a community health worker visits households in villages or remote settlements, information about patients, their health concerns and any follow-up services needed can be recorded electronically instead of being written in several registers.
