Honda Motor Southern Africa is set to introduce a new electronic clutch system designed to transform the way riders experience motorcycles.

The new Honda E-Clutch technology will be available as an option on the 2026 Honda XL750 Transalp and Honda NX500 models, delivering smoother gear changes and easier control without constantly using the clutch lever. The technology allows riders to shift up and down gears by simply using the gear pedal, while the system automatically manages clutch operation when starting or stopping. This removes the stress of frequent clutch use, especially during busy urban riding, where traffic requires repeated stopping and starting.
Honda said the lightweight system weighs about 2kg and combines the benefits of a traditional manual clutch, quick shifter technology and Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission.
