Namibia retains Billie Jean Group III status

Namibia retained its place in Group III of the Billie Jean King Cup after finishing seventh at the 2026 tournament in Gaborone, Botswana, last week.

The four-player team of Joanivia Bezuidenhout, Mari van Schalkwyk, Taimi Nashiku and captain Riekie Gordon matched last year’s result, when Namibia also placed seventh while hosting the competition in Windhoek. Only the top two teams earn promotion to the next group, Group II.

Namibia’s campaign included a hard-fought opening defeat to Ghana before bouncing back with a 2-1 victory over Cameroon.
