OMUTHIYA – Preparations for the construction of the King Kauluma-Omutsegonime water pipeline got underway on Friday, with 30 unemployed youth from the Omuthiya and Nehale Lya Mpingana constituencies beginning de-bushing activities along the planned route through a mine-contaminated area.

The de-bushing exercise is being conducted ahead of de-mining operations by the Namibian Police Force and the Namibian Defence Force to clear the way for the construction of the pipeline, which is expected to improve water supply to communities in the Oshikoto region.
Speaking at the launch of the programme, Omuthiya constituency councillor Erastus Nekomba said the Oshikoto Regional Council had engaged unemployed youth to clear vegetation along the route while creating temporary employment opportunities.
