Staff Reporter THE Namibian Navy added ceremonial prestige and public engagement to the 2026 Lüderitz Crayfish Festival, with a series of parades, ship tours and a high-level reception aboard one of its vessels during the coastal event held from 28 April to 3 May in Lüderitz. The festival opened with a performance by the Navy Brass Band, which marched through the streets of Lüderitz and officially launched the celebrations with a vibrant musical display that drew large crowds of residents and visitors, setting the tone for the weekend in the harbour town. Members of the public were also given the opportunity to tour the Namibian Ship (NS) Elephant at Lüderitz Harbour, where they engaged with crew members and learned more about the country’s naval capabilities.
