THE Minister of Works and Transport, Veikko Nekundi, has dismissed claims that there is a need to conduct an audit into the awarding of tenders to foreign nationals, which has been alleged to be done in such a way that Namibian businesses struggle to secure capital projects.
“Surely, you cannot expect a 10-year period forensic audit to be conducted in 6 months, and I will never commit to impossible things. Secondly, a forensic audit is very expensive, you cannot just do it because you want to do it, therefore, provide us with reasonable facts that would warrant or compel an audit,” Nekundi said, in a statement in which he answered questions posed by Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF) MP Kalimbo Iipumbu.
