Fraudsters target trust as Bank Windhoek warns customers

Bank Windhoek has warned customers and the public to remain cautious as criminals continue to use more advanced tricks to steal banking information and access accounts.

The bank said fraudsters are no longer only targeting banking systems but are increasingly targeting people by using fear, pressure and false trust to convince them to share confidential details or approve fraudulent transactions.

The warning comes as part of Bank Windhoek’s ongoing efforts to educate customers and strengthen protection against financial crime.

According to the bank, criminals often use fake SMS messages, emails, social media messages and phone calls to create panic. They may pretend to be bank officials or trusted organisations and pressure victims to act quickly without verifying the request.
