Child pornography accused takes on safety ministry

The Windhoek High Court has scheduled an urgent application lodged by a former police officer accused of allegedly sexually abusing under age boys and using them to produce pornographic material.

The application lodged by Johan Wickus Maree, in which he seeks an order against Lucia Iipumbu, the Minister of Home Affairs, Safety and Security, and 11 other respondents, is set to be heard on 30 July 2026. In the application, Maree seeks an order restraining the respondents from taking any action that would interfere with or obstruct his ability to prepare his defence in his pending criminal case and in other related civil and interlocutory proceedings.
