Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare has said that there is a pressing need for the Windhoek Municipality to rethink and improve its strategies in order to accelerate housing development, enhance access to basic services and expedite land allocation processes.

Speaking during a high-level meeting with the City of Windhoek senior management team, Ngurare emphasized the importance of eliminating unnecessary administrative delays in land transfers.

He stated that “practical and efficient solutions must urgently be implemented by the CoW to improve the lives of residents.”

The Premier highlighted the need for a unified approach, urging political leaders across all levels to set aside differences and prioritize national interests, noting that the success of the City is intrinsically linked to the success of government.

“We need to adopt labour-intensive initiatives such as land servicing, riverbed clearing, and urban agriculture.

These strategies are vital not only for creating employment opportunities but also for enhancing service delivery and supporting sustainable urban development,” he underscored.
