The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Youth, Civic Relations and Community Development has launched a comprehensive review into the rapid expansion of nursing schools and health training centres in Namibia.

This comes amid growing concerns over training quality, accreditation systems, and rising unemployment among health graduates.
The process forms part of Parliament’s oversight responsibility. It is being carried out through structured stakeholder consultations aimed at assessing whether the current regulatory framework for health training institutions is effective, coordinated and aligned with national health workforce needs.
In a press statement, the committee said it is engaging key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health and Social Services, regulatory bodies responsible for accreditation and licensing, health training institutions, enrolled students and labour representatives.
