SUSPECTED digital fraud involving Namibian consumers remained significantly below the global average in 2025, with new data showing that most reported financial losses were driven by third-party seller scams on trusted online platforms, according to TransUnion’s latest fraud trends report.

The research found that 1.2% of transaction attempts involving consumers in Namibia were flagged as suspected digital fraud in 2025, compared to a global average of 3.8%. While overall fraud levels declined year on year both locally and globally, the findings indicate that criminals are increasingly relying on trust-based scams that bypass traditional security measures.
